It started with R:BASE 2.11, Swedish version, that I used1994-1998 when doing my thesis about the Late Medieval Economy of Sweden. That lovely SQL-tool simply made it possible for me to be in the front of medieval research. After defending my doctor's thesis in the year 1998, I have published two more books about the High Middle Age Economy of Sweden (2006 & 2009) and, of course, made use of a better and better R:BASE in my quantative analyses. Today I have a steady job as a lecturer at University of Stockholm and a bunch of scholars are taking advantage of my databases (they are for free) – not bad indeed.
