Hi Dennis,

Interesting question....

I saw all the the Poirot detectives on the TV and I found it very amusing.

You have to remember that Hercule Poirot was the fruit of the imagination of
Agatha Christie, who was British !

The stories are well-written and I enjoy them very much....
David Suchet plays the role of Hercule Poirot in the TV series in a quite
caricatural way...But he is not a Belgian.
I must say a recognize more of the Belgian ways in the interpretation of the
Hercule Poirot movies where Peter Ustinov played the part.
But Ustinov was a real European and he knew Brussels.

As an inhabitant of the Flemish part of the country we like to think that we
understand and appreciate the british sense of humour.
But in fact most of us are also very close to the French....Napoleon was
here when my greatgrandfather was a child.....
It isn't all that long ago.....;-)

So, Poirot: very entertaining...very cute to see how a Belgian should look
in the mind of a British author.

But I haven't met one of that kind in my country.

I like to think we are more "normal"...;-)

Hopes this gives you an idea.....

Best regards,

Luc D.

Being a Belgian, what do you think of the Poirot mystery series???
It's always interesting to hear a native's perspective.
