Bob: I'll bet Razzak hit it with this one. If the company changed computers, then look for where the rbase.cfg is. Chances are they didn't copy over the rbase.cfg to the same location, and RBase might have created one on its own (probably in the database directory, take a look there) with different character settings than there were before. Put the correct settings in your startup file instead.
