Bill,
I suspect User Access Control (UAC) is blocking this from working... So try 
disabling it and seeing if you can get it to work.   There is also a registry 
edit that can help if you are trying to connect to network resources using the 
net use command

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

Here you want to create a DWORD entry named "EnableLinkedConnections" and set 
the value to 1

I have a DOS 6.1 applications that prints to a shared printer using the
Net use lpt1: \\counterrightxp\brother<file:///\\counterrightxp\brother> command
I can't seem to get this to work under Windows 7

When I issue the command it first prompts me for UserName then password I 
finally get error message SYSTEM ERROR 5 HAS OCCURRED THEN ACCESS DENIED


Any Ideas?
