Tom,

I have set up the form as you suggest and set the variable as vcard. I scan
the card and the data shows in the form. I recalculate the variable on
closing but when I show var it does not show.

You could make a variable form and it should scan the number into it. I use
the same principle for barcodes. I had an old keyboard with a reader on it
and it would fillin the variable field. I don't think you need to copy it
to clipboard.

I am using R:Base 7.5 and we are writing a cash register application and we
have just installed a IDtech Stripe Reader.

How can I get the information which is written to the clipboard into a
variable.

I have tried setting the variable before but it does not write to the
variable.

Appreciate your assistance.
