Thanks, Tony.  That is what I end up doing also. 

It's strange because this morning, for instance, I updated values in one 
column and everything was fine.  I then moved over a couple of columns to 
update some other values in another column and boom "Resources required . 
. .".

Still scratching my head.

I agree this happens sometimes. I haven?t been able to pinpoint the cause 
of this message.
My solution is to closedown Rbase and startup again.
 
Sorry for not having a better suggestion, but the message does not occur 
frequently.

What causes the "The resources required by command are not available" 
message?   

I get this message when I try to update columns either in the data browser 
or with a command at the R>.  No other users are connected. 

Turbo V-8 latest version on Windows XP Pro w/SP3.
