Maybe my answer does contribute anything to the solution of your problem, but last week I was confronted with a setting in Windows which maybe also causes problems in an application of me.
Currently it seems to be that the standard setting of Windows is not showing the extension of known files, when you have a look into the FMS. I am not sure this causes any problems ( and normally it should not), but it does not take long to change this setting and see what happens. One of my associates just got a new computer, Windows 7, 64 bit. When he goes to email from within the RBASE application he is getting a range path error and the app freezes up.
