You can use accelerator characters to achieve this.  In the name of a tab,
put a & before the character that you want to use as the hotkey. For
example, the first tab page could be named "Tab 1", but you would spell it
"Tab &1", and the second "Tab &2". 

 

That makes Alt-1 and alt-2 the accelator characters that are the same as
clicking the mouse on the tab.
