I would erase the file before the first export.
I did not and used different tab names on two separate runs and wound up with 
two tabs.
Wit a little care, this functionality is really awesome!

I never use XLS anymore, XLSW works much smoother even for just one tab.

Good to know!  I'm sure you're right, the sheet_index must be the indicator to 
RBase that you're appending.   Yes, I'd have to say that I never delete the 
file before exporting a new one...

  Strange I've always had trouble with the gateway if I didn't first delete the 
file. I believe the default for SHEET_INDEX is 0 therefore calling for an 
overwrite. If the SHEET_INDEX is anything other than 0 it will append.
