When we go live with 9.1 sometime hopefully this year, my team of three guys
may need to do remote desktop administration of databases. I currently use
remote desktop/TS every night to work on the database.
If I was to use Citrix with a published desktop, then TS from the Citrix
desktop to another computer that has a RBase full version on it, will I need
this license?
My understanding is that compiled apps running on Citrix/TS will not need
this license.
Kenny,
Remote Desktop Licenses are not required for users who are remotely
connecting to a workstation computer where R:BASE is installed. The
same applies for who may remotely connect to a server that is set up
only as a file server or Web server, where R:BASE is installed.
Remote Client Licenses would only be needed for any users that are
connecting to the server that is running Remote Desktop as an
internal service. The server has to be running Remote Desktop as a
Role, as defined in Windows Server 2008, or a Service, as defined
in previous Server versions, in order for an R:BASE Remote Client
License to be accepted.
Yes. Compiled executables created from R:Compiler, and Runtime for
R:BASE do not require a Remote Desktop License.
