Steve

Thanks I did not realize there were 1D an 2D barcodes. I just started looking
into this. All I want to use the bar code for is Custnum fields.

Thanks
Marc

I have my very own LS2208 and I've had no problems with it, although I'll
confess that it is used primarily at cross country meets to scan in bar-coded
bib#'s for race-finisher. However, it seems to be about the best you can get
in its price-range. The only thing I might suggest you investigate prior to
purchasing anything is whether or not you might ever want to utilize 2D
barcodes, which might require a little reading into what 2D barcodes could do
for you. (I suppose you would begin with RBase Help, "Understanding 2D
Barcodes", "PDF417", "Maxicode", etc.) I suggest that because the LS2208 can
only read 1D barcodes.

Also, I bought the USB version, which has worked fine and just like the
keyboard/wedge version.

As for the Zebra printers, I don't know the model you mention, but we are using
several of their heavy-duty S4M versions to print rolled & perforated
card-stock, essentially HEAVY-DUTY 3x5 labels. So far, they seem very rugged
and reliable.

Subject: [RBASE-L] - Off topic bar code scanner

Hi

I am wanting to add bar codes to my app so I am looking for any suggestions on
inexpensive label printers and scanners.

I was thinking of a Zebra TLP 2844 and Symbol LS2208, are these any good?

Thanks

Marc
