Hi Karen,

Windows has the Remote Assistance. It allows you to work remotely and the computer you are controlling to see what you are doing and participate if necessary. The one time I tested it. The person who needs the help has to initiate the process. They choose the Remote Assistance from the Windows Start button. Then an invitation is sent to you usually as an email attachment, the connection is made, and the rest pretty much functions like Remote Desktop.

On the technical side:
- Allow Remote Assistance needs be enabled in the Control Panel System Properties. It is the the 1st item under the Remote tab. - If you have to forward a port for a firewall or router, it is usually 3389 just like Remote Desktop. - There is usually a item under the Windows Start Button with Remote Assistance or Windows Remote Assistance.

Hope this helps. At least it is a solution that does not require any additional software.

Damian

When I use RD to go into a client, the workstation's monitor is not visible, just says "this computer is locked" or something like that. Is there a setting on either my end or theirs so that they can see the screen?
