A client has upgraded an existing application from Access to SQL; in this
case, they are actually using SQL Server Express, which I understand is the
free version of SQL. They installed MS SQL Server Express in their server
system drive and apparently they cannot use it with databases installed in a
separate (data) drive; that part is their problem.
Once they get their drive issue resolved, I need to access the SQL database
from R:Base, preferably using a DSN-less connection.
I have copied their current directory where the database resides to my local
drive for testing purposes, and the following files are present:

I am very familiar with the procedure to connect to Access databases;
however, my experience with SL is extremely limited and I am probably
missing something simple
The first question is: can I access the SQL database FUELMASTERPLUSSQL.mdf
as stored in my local directory or do I need access to other server files?
The help for SCONNECT for SQL databases is:
SCONNECT ';driver={SQL
Server};server=corpseadb0d;uid=my_user_name;pwd=my_pw;database=JohnDoe;'
I am not sure what the "server" parameter is and how it relates to the local
database. I have tried different parameters with no luck.
I have looked at the "From the Edge" write-ups but I did not find anything
that would help me. I believe that at one point there was a write up, and I
probably have the printout stashed somewhere in my archives, but I am unable
to find it anywhere on line. Any help would be appreciated
