Mike, FWIW, try the exact same routine on a different computer with identical setup, version, and build of R:BASE, and see what you find. Bad hardware, memory chip, and/or configuration on this computer may result in such signs and symptoms as you have described. This may also result in poor performance in all functions and procedures of R:BASE that require memory allocation. Hope that provides you with some blue's clues ... Very Best R:egards, Razzak.
