I agree, Karen.  Not only do the icons eat up valuable monitor real estate (regardless of monitor size) and reduce the usable area of the designer canvas, but the number of tables, forms, reports etc listed in db explorer is reduced because the line spacing is greater.  The result in both cases is more scrolling, reduced productivity.  I know The Team has put a lot of time and effort into the new look, but I prefer concise function over contemporary aesthetics for the developer.  For the end-user, that may not be as critical and big icons are welcome.

I will submit this as an enhancement request unless you tell me
that there isn't a way this can be done....

The more I work with 9l.1, the more I dislike the big icons in the form
and report designer.  I know you've said "get a nice big cool monitor",
but nowadays I do an awful lot of programming on a laptop screen.
The menu and icons take up a full half of the monitor and honestly
decreases my productivity  quite a bit.   Is there a way that there
can be a "classic" button for that, or would it be too much work for
your guys without the payoff?

Karen

Let's see what we can do to create a single button to use "Classic"
settings. That way we keep everyone happy using R:BASE eXtreme 9.1.
