I am also experienbcing similar problems for past on
monthwhen the users double clicks the EXE on the Terminal Server nothing
happens
when i check in the Task Manager the EXE shows and running but nothing
happens

but all other applications seem to work perfectly EXCEPT
only the rbase Compiled EXE doesnt seem to run
then we have to reboot the Teminal Sever and then the Rbase
EXE works ok

I have seen cases (on regular workstations as well), where the user manages to
get a "stuck" R:Base session -- nothing showing on the screen, but the EXE is
running in the task manager.  This "stuck" session stops other sessions from
opening and sometimes the user stacks up several sessions.  When you "kill" the
original problem session, the other sessions that were waiting to start
suddenly open.

But this sounds different from the problem you're seeing because 1) it happened
on regular network workstations, not RDP sessions and 2) the fix was to "kill"
the bad session on the workstation, not reboot the server.

The executable you're running -- is it stored on the terminal server or on the
attached file server?  And is it regular R:Base, run-time, or a compiled
version?
