Hi Paul,

You might consider running a 32bit version of windows 7 in a virtual
machine. VMWare has a free product, VM-Player, that might be enough,
but if you need networking tweaks, VMWorkstation is a better choice.
There is a 30 day trial available (I think), and costs ~$200. You will
also need a license for the second windows os.

In addition to the convenience of having both OSs on one machine, you
can take snapshots of the state of a virtual machine, and regress /
progress though those states for testing and trouble shooting. Not
just linear, but tree fashion. I use this feature *a lot*. Imagine
stepping forward/backward/sideways with whole databases/applications
in different states. You can also close down the whole shebang "as is"
(suspended) and come back to where you were the next day. You may also
network the VM with each other, and/or, "real" computers. It's just
very handy.

If you ever want a duplicate machine on a different computer, it's as
easy as installing VMPlayer there and copying a directory (the VM),
regardless of how much is installed (be careful of licensing).

The only issue I've had is running anything like a compiler. I never
did chase down the actual cause -- may have been me since I didn't see
any related posts. So if that's an issue, trialing is definitely
called for.

Ben
