Wow... something's in the air.  Just last week we added a small table to
a rock-solid database; did it after hours with only me connected, but
I did not connect with "multi off" as I should have.  When I went to add
a Primary Key to the table thru the designer, it worked but I got one of
those exception messages after I exited the designer, and the database 
got trashed.   Autocheck showed the exact same error as below, with the
sys_comments table (table had no comments).   At that point, windows
could not open the database at all, but DOS could!   So we connected in
DOS, did an unload and had to manually chop the file apart to rebuild the
database.    So from now on, even when adding the tiniest of tables I will
connect with multi off and see if that helps!
