Jim,

Well I know it's possible but I think you need to use either a

VARCHAR but probably a VARBIT.

Someone else with more experience needs to chime in on that.

Also you may want to look at your database size, load a few in

and see what happens. You may not want them internal.

Jan,

Thanks for the warning. We are planning to go to 9.1 32, hopefully
 sometime this summer.

Right now the database is not even at 400 MG.

Plus we would be getting rid of the BMP files that now are used for
 assembly drawings.

So I do not know that would be a problem.

So it is possible and what would the data type be?

 Jim,

Word of caution on bringing in the PDF's.

 Remember that 7.6 has a 2GB limit.

As soon as you cross that barrier, only RBTI can recover your data.

Right now we run a report that goes outside of RBASE to get a
 PDF based
    on a part number.

We are considering doing the same for the assembly drawings.

However instead of going outside of RBASE, we are also
 considering
bringing those PDF into a table.

Is that possible and if so what data type do I use in the field
 that
    would hold the PDF?

    We are using 7.6.
