I've not found the existence of folders to cause any problems. Files in
the working directory seem to cause R:Base to look for things a bit more
slowly.
Right now I'm modifying a 7.6 Win application and I have 15 sub folders
with old db copies and procedure source files and a whole other bunch of
stuff including bitmaps. It doesn't seem to bother anything.
