Hi Karen,

32 bits is only enough to address 4GB (=2^32 bytes) of memory. Windows and the 
operating environment requires some memory, in your case 1.09 GB apparently.

32 bit version of windows 7 can only use 3-4 gb of memory no matter how much 
you put in the pc.

64 bit version of windows 7 can use up to 192 gb of memory

Oh, one other thing when I was checking the Windows 7 workstations.  They all 
have the Intel i3 processor.  And under Installed Memory it says:   8.0 GB 
(2.91 useable).

What?   Why is only 3MB useable out of 8 GB?
