I have no business even offering an opinion on something like this, but I did have a similar issue.
What I did was have the On Entry EEP or the on click EEP send the component ID with a time stamp to a table. Then using the latest time stamp from the table, I could figure out where the focus was, how often the control was being used, how long they were spending on each control, etc. Hope that helps.
