I respectfully contend that mobility is the key here.
I'm looking forward to any gadget which allows me to take an R:Base database front end into difficult physical environments, automate data collection from a variety of sensors/gadgets and to keep my head down and my hands usefully free.

Windows 8 may have gone live last week, but I don't think that - at least for the time being - that is of any importance. However, it does raise an interesting question.
I feel that W8 with its increasing number of gadgets is a consumer product, and not at all a product aimed at the business end of the market. Just have a look at W8 and you will agree. In my opinion, W8 is still an unfinished product, only put on the market in response to Apple's success with its Ipod, Ipad etcetera. As far as I can see there is very little in W8 what would really benefit RBase. Forget about the gadgets. Does RBase need them? Nice once, perhaps twice or even three times, but once we've seen them all ? Base is a 'business product' and hopefully will remain a 'business' product, aimed at the professional end of the market.
If it were to develop into a 'consumer' product like W8/ W8 Pro then it looses its raison d'etre and we might just as well forget about the fact once upon a time RBase used to be a genuine, and very good relational database programme.
I may be wrong so please feel free tot disagree with me.
