I have a 34 year old Miller 400amp 100% duty cycle welder that I can guarantee you can't buy one better. It tips the scales at 1200#. I think I paid about $1500 for it in '79.
When it comes to my tools, I always buy the best and slightly (or doubly) bigger than I need, including my DBMS (now I am back OnTopic.). ----- Original Message ----- From: "Karen Tellef" <[email protected]> To: "RBASE-L Mailing List" <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, May 17, 2013 10:03 AM Subject: [RBASE-L] - Re: how to stop report clearing variables after printing Myself, I would never sacrifice usability for "pretty", and much of today's "upgraded" software does that too often, including operating systems! But I also have no tolerance for people who think that EVERYTHING old is better. Case in point: my Sig Other's boss is on an equipment-buying frenzy for his booming business. He asked Todd's opinion on a particular type of welder to buy because he was going to an auction. Todd told him he could buy a new one for $1800, but if he found an old one in good shape spend no more than $400 on it. The guy comes back with an old welder that needs work for $1500.... Todd just shook his head, the boss stuck with the "they don't make them like that anymore". Todd said, "no, the new ones are so much better".... No luck so far... ;-) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Karen Tellef" <[email protected]> To: "RBASE-L Mailing List" <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, May 17, 2013 8:30 AM Subject: [RBASE-L] - Re: how to stop report clearing variables after printing I find these new icons very hard to figure out -- I cannot tell out if they are turned on or off. I always have to click it on and off multiple times before I get an idea of what the setting is. I do prefer the old way with a very visible checkmark. I guess it's just my aging eyes or something... I agree the border shading of the icon is a little weak, but when the icon is depressed (on) there is a light blue border around it and is missing when in the raised (off) position.... ----- Original Message ----- From: "Patti Jakusz" <[email protected]> To: "RBASE-L Mailing List" <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, May 16, 2013 2:23 PM Subject: [RBASE-L] - how to stop report clearing variables after printing Hello, Just moved up to 9.5. I'm having troubles with a command file that prints two reports. The 2nd report is losing some of the variables it needs and I'm getting error messages saying "Unrecognized global variables in Expression." They were defined before the report printing started, so I think the 1st report is clearing it somehow. In report designer, there is a menu option that says "Clear Variables After Printing" but I click on it and nothing happens. I thought it might be a toggle switch, but the menu icon looks the same everytime I click on it. Am I missing something? Thanks, Patti
