Juan: this looks promising! Took some digging but it does say it's supported on Windows 8 64-bit. Since it's open source, I think I'll try it unless someone else has another suggestion.

Woo hoo! I love converting these old systems! Problem is, the laptop I use now has 64-bit windows 8 on it. So far, I haven't had to touch DOS so it hasn't been a problem. I would sure love to do the conversion on this laptop and not have to fire up my backup XP computer. I know I could research this, but I'll try the lazy way first. Does anyone here have some recommendations of the best way to run RBase DOS on this OS? Thanks for the ideas! Karen
