Mike:

I remember StarDesignor from PowerBuilder days mid-'90s thereabouts. Had
completely forgotten.

Awesome, and thank you.

Subject: [RBASE-L] - Re: Generate Schema from an Excel File?

You can design your database using a GUI from an old program that the RBase
users have the use rights that I secured some years ago. The program
StarDesignor will allow you to design the DB in a GUI and then will generate
SQL code to create a db.

You can download it from my website: www.byerley.net > click on the
Software tab > select MiscUtils under Software Categories.

There are two selections: One is a disk Image Install where you will have
to desemintate the files to their appropriate locations on disk manually
which is a bandaid for systems where the installer might hiccup.

The other is a regular install. I haven't tried to install on anything
above WinXP, but it works fine there. It was way ahead of its time when it
was issued and I still use it on occasion. It can reverse engineer a db by
using ODBC driver to connect also.

Subject: [RBASE-L] - Generate Schema from an Excel File?

: All:
:
: I find Excel a very useful tool for recording schema-development
information
: (table, column, datatype, not null, keys, autonum, etc.) in a structured
: manner after drawing the schema map.
:
: Is there an application out there which generates database-creation SQL
code
: from a properly-structured Excel file?
:
: Seems that could be a real time saver.
