So does this mean that a company who's running a successful
multi-user 7.6 system that suits their needs cannot reactivate an
R:Base workstation if that hard drive crashes and is replaced? (I
believe new hard drive will change the hardware signature which
invalidates the activation key. Correct me if I'm wrong.)
i.e. replacing a $35 HDD would result in over $1,000 in upgrade costs.
That's a big bite for a lot of smaller businesses, especially under
continuing economic uncertainties.

With R:BASE we are grateful for every user and developer we have here
in the community. With the devotion and appreciation of all R:BASE
users, we consider R:BASE Technologies fortunate indeed. Thank you!
We share as much information as possible about our product, and try
to make the software company and end user relationship as satisfying
as possible. We have added more product requests in the R:BASE
eXtreme series than any other version. Like any other software
vendor, we must continue to release new versions. Please review:
01. R:BASE 7.6 was released on September 03, 2007.
02. The End of Development and Support of R:BASE 7.6 occurred on
October 14, 2011, which officially announced on January 04, 2011.
03. Since then, three major upgrades have been announced:
. R:BASE 9.0 officially released on 05/11/2010.
. R:BASE 9.1 officially released on 02/14/2011.
. R:BASE 9.5 officially released on 05/15/2012.
We want as many users as possible here with us in the R:BASE
community to share our common enjoyment of R:BASE. But for users who
have not made efforts to upgrade themselves or their clients, even
after all these efforts, is quite daunting.
As a software vendor we can only continue support for legacy products
for so long. Even with the devotion and appreciation of users, a
software vendor can only prosper when users upgrade.
We understand that times are tough. It has been tough for a while.
And its been tough everywhere; across the globe and in our back
yards. This is why we offer so many promotions, (official release
discounts, Development Kits, March Madness, 30th Anniversary of
R:BASE, 15th Anniversary of R:BASE Technologies, etc.). We are hoping
these give all users the opportunity to upgrade and use the latest R:BASE.
We ask legacy R:BASE users to migrate to the latest version, and we
are willing to work with you and your clients. We will honor the
current terms of all existing Software Assurance Plans, and software
support will be provided to the extension date listed on the invoice
receipt or packing slip. We would also like to remind all that a
credit is provided towards any unused months on a Software Assurance
Plan when users upgrade to a new version. If your clients upgrade to
R:BASE eXtreme 9.5, we will provide limited product activation for
the legacy version, during the database and application migration
process, if needed.
Should you have further questions, please do not hesitate to reach
out to our dedicated team at R:BASE Technologies, Inc. Give us a
call. Send us an email. We will not disappoint.
Sincerest R:egards
Razzak.
