I am starting the project to convert our v8 systems to 9.5.

I will need to keep both v8 and 9.5 on my development pc. However this
PC will often connect to the live v8 databases.

Are there any rules I must follow to have no conflicts between the two?
I have extensive use of foreign ODBC links to keep in mind. Will a
standard install from the CD be sufficient or should I take some other
approach?

Bob,

You should have no problem running and managing both V-8 and 9.5 (64)
installations and databases on the same workstation/notebook/tablet
PCs.

FWIW ...

A typical R:BASE eXtreme 9.5 (64) and Oterro 9.5 (64) installation
would include the following:

-- All EXEs, Help Files, PDF Documents, and Sample Applications
\RBTI\RBG95_64
\RBTI\RBG95_64\Samples
\RBTI\RBG95_64\SyntaxSchemes
\RBTI\RBG95_64\Tutorial
\Oterro95_64

-- All CFG Files
\Windows\RBENGINE95_64.CFG
\Windows\OTERRO95_64.CFG

-- All Engine and ODBC DLLs
\Windows\SysWOW64\RBENGINE95_64.dll
\Windows\SysWOW64\RBG95_64.dll
\Windows\SysWOW64\RBG95_64_ins.dll
\Windows\SysWOW64\OTERRO95_64.dll
\Windows\SysWOW64\OTERRO95_64_ins.dll

Note:

All databases for V-8 and RBG95 (64) are exclusively used by the
specific versions of R:BASE Turbo V-8 and R:BASE eXtreme 9.5 (64).

R:BASE Turbo V-8 database cannot be connected using R:BASE eXtreme
9.5 (64) unless converted.

R:BASE eXtreme 9.5 (64) database cannot be connected using R:BASE
Turbo V-8.

Hope that helps!

Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions.

Very Best R:egards,
