Yes, for both fields, the default value set to "Baltimore,"  but it only works
for one of them.

guess. On the DB Edit Properties, under “Effects” there is a field call
“Default Value”. Check to see what that is set to. I’m guessing that is how
“Baltimore” is coming up as the default on the original field.  Regards, Ken

Subject: [RBASE-L] - problem with a default on a form  I have a form that's
used for adding new records to a table.  One of the fields is the client's
city, so I sent it up as a DB edit field and it defaults to "Baltimore".  Works
fine, always did.  When I "enter using formname", Baltimore is already in that
field.  Now I added some more questions to this form, one of them being
client's significant-other city.  I copied the client's city field and just
changed the name of the database field.  But even though it's set up to default
to "Baltimore" - it doesn't.  It is just blank when the form first appears on
the screen, and also when the cursor hits that field.  I can't imagine what the
problem is.    Any ideas?Thanks,Patti
