I had occasion over the last couple days to revisit some of the RBase projects I did pre-windows era and pre-7.0.
One was an estimating program and another was an inventory and point of sale for a lumber company. Poring over the kludges and workarounds that I employed to get RBase to behave in the visual manner that I wanted brought very clearly to the forefront exactly how far the software has come. I know there are plenty of thank you's and appreciative comments addressed over the many particular instances of bug fixes and enhancements that have come and passed. The significance of the difference between the UI and developer tools of old and the current couldn't be overstated in any terms. When I went back and looked at the old stuff, I had some vision of reusing some of the parts and pieces, but my conclusion by the end of yesterday was that my OCD would choke me to death by the time I finished as the result would likely be second best in the best case. So other than basic database structure, that is about all I am going to employ in the get-go of the project. I am most happy that the driving force at RBTI must suffer from the same malady (OCD). :-) And if it is so, I readily accept the benefits of the great toolset rained on me in the current RBase. Perfection is the task that escapes by a hairsbreadth, but its' pursuit is worthy. Thanks Razzak and everyone at RBTI for your diligence in the pursuit of excellence in RBase. > -----Original Message----- > From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of A. > Razzak Memon > Sent: Saturday, January 17, 2015 2:02 PM > To: RBASE-L Mailing List > Subject: [RBASE-L] - RE: Update 5 and Running Stored Procedures andRUN > SELECT Commands > > At 12:26 PM 1/17/2015, Brad Davidson wrote: > > >Razzak and RBTI Staff, > > > >Thank you for this update! > > > >Although I haven't tested all compiled apps, what I have tested after > >applying this update is working fantastic, no more failures noted with > >RUN SELECT statements (internal stored code). > > > >Again, thank you for the quick response to reported issues, as usual, > >unparalleled support from R:Base Technologies! > > > Thanks, Brad! > > Being great doesn't just happen.
