Patti, I am running 9.5 on a Windows 8.1 (64) laptop – it all works very well, so as others have suggested it may be your AV software that is causing the problem. (I use Bitdefender without any problems – now. Mind you on my Windows 7 desktop if I click on an .XLSX file it takes minutes for the file to open, yet if I run Excel first (which starts immediately) and click on the same file it opens without any delay. I tried using resmon.exe to see what was happening but it is still a mystery. However maybe you could try using RESMON to see what processes are running and what files are being accessed when the issues occur if disabling your AV software doesn’t solve the problem.) (We're upgrading the server in the next few weeks.) I have been struggling with Rbase crashing and some features not working right in both environments. So I thought I'd replace my laptop to see if things are any better. Now I'm using Rbase 9.5 on a Dell laptop with Win 8.1 and the crashes are still happening and it's so much slower. When I right-click on a control, and hit Object Property, it takes 3 seconds before it responds. My new laptop has 8 GB ram, and an Intel core i5-4200U CPU processor (1.6 GH to 2.3 GH). This has so much more Ram and GH than my old laptop, but it is so much slower that I thought maybe the problem was Windows 8.1. Does anyone have any suggestions? I can still return the laptop, but can't spend over $600 to replace it. Patti -- A democracy ..." can only exist until the majority discovers it can vote itself largess out of the public treasury."
