You are welcome Manuel. (Happy to help when I can. I know what it is like when
things don’t work quite as you think they should…)

Manuel,

I think you will find that the GUID data type is only available in 64 bit
R:Base.

HELP states: Returns a globally unique identifier value. This function is
specific to R:BASE eXtreme 9.5 (64).

Subject: [RBASE-L] - (CVAL('GUI')) issue

Hello Everyone,

I would appreciate if anyone can try this test from your R> or an RMD
command file. I want to eliminate the possibility that there is something
wrong with my environment. Here is my problem.

>From the Rbase Help I cut/paste the function.

SET VAR vNewGUID = (CVAL('GUID'))

If I execute the line at the R> or in a command file it returns an error
dialog box:

-ERROR-Invalid parameter(639)

I tried it on two computers running
R:BASE eXtreme 9.5 (32), U.S. Version, Build: 9.5.5.20423

My QUOTES setting is ( ' ) the single quote. The error message is telling
me that GUID is not a valid parameter yet I have used it in the pass and it
is in the Help files. I am hoping it is something silly that I am doing
wrong.

Your help is greatly appreciated.
