I love your attitude Razzak. You tempt the living daylights out of us, and make darned sure we are up to date. 20*521* indeed.

Is there a limit on the SRPL function in terms of length?

I have a long var char variable that is 60,000 characters in length.

I perform a SRPL function on it and it gives a message that "new value
will be truncated". The resulting variable is then 32768 characters
long. The resulting variable is a long varchar type as well.

Version 9.5 64

Bob,

What build of R:BASE eXtreme 9.5 (64)?

I am using R:BASE eXtreme 9.5 (64), Update 5, Build: 9.5.5.20521 and
everything seems to be working accordingly when using the SRPL and
all string manipulation functions.

FYI ...

Older versions & builds of R:BASE where expressions like SRPL had a
size limit which impacted how big a VARCHAR result could be. In the
past this expression limit was about 32767 in size (4096 when using
the UPDATE command).

However, in the latest version & build 9.5.5.20521 of R:BASE eXtreme
9.5 (32/64), the size has been increased to just over 250000.

R:BASE X and R:BASE X Enterprise (version 10), Build: 10.0.1.10521
also reflects the same increase in size, i.e, just over 250000.

Very Best R:egards,

Razzak.
