I agree with you!
If you are setting the prefix as a static value 'HOT'!
But if that prefix is dynamic (more than one value 'HOT' 'COLD' 'WARM').
Then the example I provided is the only way to address the concatenation of
multiple values for defining a unique identifier for that record from
multiple columns!

I saw Bob's question as not static but as a dynamic prefix value!
