Mike,

With 3.2 I've found (on those extremely rare occasions when this occurs) 
that reconnecting the offending user/workstation will free the lock.  I 
agree with you that it is a Novell problem, but I have no magic to prevent 
it.  I've never had to reboot the server to clear up the problem.
