I use the append technique on one of my tables and have had no problems at
all.

Here is the syntax I use:

APPEND PBILL_SIZES TO PBILL_SIZES WHERE PBILL = 'XXXXX'

I am running the most recent version of R:Base for Windows under Windows NT
Workstation 4.0
