Try
GATEWAY EXPORT XLS4 FileName.XLS SELECT * FROM
Tablename
Resulting file will be FileName.XLS
You could also use the enhanced UNLOAD with AS CSV
option:
Example:
OUTP FileName.CSV
UNLOAD DATA FOR TableView AS CSV
OUTP SCREEN
Excel will read CSV file without any problem.
