I discovered that after an NT workstation runs QuickBooks 2000, a LOT
of CPU cycles get consumed after that by a "task" visible in the task
manager named "qbdagent.exe" -- which may be exploring the Intuit
web page for new promotional tidbits to show on QuickBooks screens.
Killing the qbdagent.exe task has eliminated a lot of those delays in
DOS programs.
