Do both note fields have the same height, same font and font sizes?

Maybe there is a problem with the NOTES data type... try changing the fields
into TEXT on the report (so you don't have to change the structure of the
database). Assign the NOTE column to a variable and change the variable to
a TEXT and place the variable.

Thanks for the hints. I'm using Rbase for windows. The font I'm using is
Times new roman 10. I do have auto expand turned on already. The problem
still occurs would you have any other ideas.

thanks,
charlie

Charlie,

If you are using R:Base for DOS, make sure both note fields end with (W) the
wrap indicator.

If you are using R:Base for Windows, make sure both note fields have
Auto-Expand checked.

On the DOS level, I made sure that the width of the note field in the form
matches the width of the note field in the report. This way the report
output will closely resemble how it looked in the form.

On Windows, I don't think I took the time to match the widths since the
fonts I used (or like to use) is not mono-spaced.

Hope this gives you some options.

I have one report where there are two note fields side-by-side. If one of
those note fields happens to expand to more lines than the other, then it is
truncated down to the # of lines of the shorter field as far as what prints
on the report. To workaround this, we add returns into the short column.
Is there away for Rbase to figure out if the field needs to be expanded?

I can send an attachment, if you need an example.

Thanks,
Charlie
