There is a variable setting that could affect this. Well actually 2
settings but
they both do the same thing. They are RBTI_NOSTATUS and
MICRORIM_NOSTATUS. These are integer variables and if either one is
set to any value then they prevent the display of messages in the status
bar.
Try clearing these variables and then see if messages will display in the
status
bar.

Same issue with or without thoses variables.
I use thoses when I need to delete status bar from forms ... but I did't
know that they can have any effect on reports ...
