Hi Susan,

rename column oldname to newname in tablename

Then you have to go and search on those columns names in your reports and
forms to find any variable definition that needs to be renamed. Use:
browse all from sys_reports where sys_report_data contains 'oldname'
browse all from sys_forms where sys_form_data contains 'oldname'

Do not edit them in this format unless you really know what you are doing.
Spacing is critical and you can screw up your forms/reports to the point of
being unusable. Just look at the sys_report_name8 field which gives name of
the report and then go into the report designer and fix it there. Same with
forms. (The name might be sys_report_name - I can't remember back to 4.5
++ and I no longer have it on my system as all my clients are at 6.0 or above
but it should be similar to this.)

The other place you can have problems after renameing columns is in your
rules and views. So check them also.
browse all from sys_rules where sys_where contains 'oldname'

Views are best seen by:
list views --give you all your views
list view viewname --shows the view definition so you can look for oldname

Best regards,
Mike Young
