Ben,
Answer to your question #1:
New (CVAL('Drives')) and (GETVAL('GetVolumID','driveletter'))
functions are relevant to The Glorious R:BASE 2000 (ver 6.5++).
Answer to your question #2:
IF_You_Have Re-Writable CD-ROM Drive, it will work like hard
drive, including the database updates, etc.
Very Best Regards,
Razzak.

More questions: 1. Will this now work in 6.5 or is 6.5++ required? 2. Will R:Base work the same as it does on the hard dirve? For example, updating the database, etc? Ben,
Two scenarios:
01. On a Read/Write/Re-Writable CD Drive
. Both R:BASE executable with Database/Applications
02. On a Read-Only CD Drive
. R:BASE executable on a local hard disk
. Database/Application on CD drive
. Startup files and TEMP directory on local hard disk
CONNECT D:DBName READ
Where D: is the CD drive with Database/Applications
You CAN automate the entire process by using the NEW
(CVAL('Drives')) and (GETVAL('GetVolumID','driveletter'))
functions in the upcoming upgrade version of The Glorious
R:BASE 2000 (version 6.5++) for Windows!
Have Fun!
Very Best Regards,
Razzak.
