This crontab that hits each datasource every 15 min would also take care of 
this hanging problem.  If the datasource timeout is set to 30 min, the 
datasources will not time out, and you won't have the problem.  I did the 
opposite thing and increased the datasourcetimeout.

I beleive the crontab being referred to is a tango program that is run every 
15 minutes by the tango service, and it goes out to each datasource and 
accesse it probably with a simple select.  This will keep the data sources 
from timing out.
