On a WIN NT machine we used Convert Express to up-grade following the
procedure defined in "Upgrading Legacy Databases" in the on line
documentation starting at R:BASE 3.x or 4.0.
There were only two things that appeared unusual during the process.
First, Convert Express showed we needed 68 MB for the conversion but only 24
MB was available whereas there was something over 2 GB available on the
machine. We went ahead and selected YES to Convert Database anyway, and
every thing appeared to proceed normally during the entire process. Second,
we got an Insufficient memory message when we attempted to RELOAD the DB in
4.0 prior to the conversion, but we were able to reload successfully in 6.5+
after the conversion.
However, when the conversion was finished all tables and views were
present, but there were no reports or forms.
That was all we were able to do at that time, but later we received word
that, in addition to no forms or reports, "...Table and column names are
truncated after 8 characters. Old DB limited to 10. No expressions were
carried over."
Suggestions as to where we went astray and what we might do next?
TIA
Jim
