I think what Jim is expressing is his dismay that radio buttons and check
boxes, which are another way to enter/edit/display information, have no way
to have the same kind of control that you have with a column or variable
field. In a column or variable field, you can define whether the user can:
1. enter data
2. change existing data

This is not available with the aforementioned controls.  They should have
the same amount of control as other data manipulation methods.  Why would
anyone want to have one form of user interface/display for data entry, and
another for editing later?  Most users need consistency, not confusion, in
their windows interface.

Check Boxes are designed to Check/Uncheck option(s), used
either for EDIT or ENTER USING FormName.

And, Field Setting Options are also provided accordingly.
