CVAL can identify the form and field. You could have a table with a
column to ID form&field with the appropriate help text in another
column and another form to display the text... the trick is activating
the eep that displays the form.
I thought getkey might be put at the front of each entry eep, but
couldn't come up with a way to pass through the captured
keystroke if not the "help" key.

My app use this technique :
All my help messages are stored in a table.
Keys are ColumnName + FormName.
Each fields has an Exit EEP name AIDE (help in french).
AIDE.EEP check if user has press F12 (I choose F12 because it is not used
by RBW and it is opposite to F1).
If Yes, it retrieve the rigth row in AIDE and display it on a form in form.
Same technique for Help on a form. In this case, ColumnName = '?'
