I noticed static was particularly a problem when sitting on a chair with
plastic wheels that moved across one of those large clear plastic mats that
cover the carpet around a desk. A couple of good rolls across the mat could
generate quite a charge. I finally got a chair with four legs and no
wheels...and the static went away.

PS. Remember the old days when a little static charge to the computer case
would cause it to reboot?
