In this case Metaframe is running on two distinct servers, and the database
is stored on a third device - the domain controller. I would not expect
Metaframe to be caching data stored on a networked drive, but that is
certainly possible. That would indicate that I have too many caches in the
mix.
Another note: this installation is seeing many, many "waiting for access
to required resource" messages. Maybe unrelated, but unlike our previous
installations that run on Novell servers.
