Manny,

I use autonum all the time, on virtually every table, and I always use 
PK and NOT NULL constraints.  I have not seen a problem like this. 

I have seen one case where an autonum formula seemed to 
"disappear" and had to be recreated, but that didn't give a "resource 
unavailable" message, it gave a "wrong number of values" message.
