Dan,

Can you save the Excel worksheet as a text, space delimited file?

If you can, try the LOAD AS FORMATTED command - doesn't matter then if there
are embedded quotes or commas, just specify the column name and the start
and end position in the file.  Before you save  the worksheet make shur you
have changed to a mono spaced font and ensure that the column widths are all
set to allow the width of all data in each column.
